Therefore the restrictions mentioned (mixing fibers, eating shell fish, etc.) would not apply. Joel is probably referring to New Covenant verses: Rom. 1:26,27; 1 Cor. 6:9,10; 1 Tim. 1:9,10.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12158318.post-19305824868107688512011-03-30T23:06:22.062-07:002011-03-30T23:06:22.062-07:00Great blog - I actually wanted to write about Past...Great blog - I actually wanted to write about Pastor Joel a few weeks ago after his CNN interview - in which he said in reply to the question Is Homosexuality wrong? - with all the sweetness and charm... he said... "Yes, the Bible tells us so."

I just about fell out! I was expecting the next words from his mouth to be about how he does not wear mixed fibers in his cloths, or eat shell fish, etc.... because after all - the Bible tell us so.

I think the use of the phrase "not God's best" was developed or worked up by him after the CNN interview - in which I'm sure he got some push back.

Either way, I don't think he believes it - I think he thinks he has to say that he does to maintain his position and power. Reclaiming the power means stepping into states of affirmation allowing us to love ourselves which in will turn begin to heal the world. ~ Rev. TaraRev. It's true that we have to continue to work to stay relevant, authentic, etc. It may be that the article was trying to get to that, or it may just be that it was trying to sell newspapers. It's very tricky to point out this stuff without just whipping up defensiveness.Genkohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17145714144583893844noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12158318.post-40622631747955174802007-09-27T15:05:00.000-07:002007-09-27T15:05:00.000-07:00Tara, as usual, you are right on target. As you say, spiritual abuse can be the most deadly kind of abuse, and that's what this is, despite their mind-boggling attempts to justify it. We have worked hard to get this legislation on the books and now we are threatened by various fundementalist and evangelical groups that wish to strike down these liberating laws. How does the message of Jesus Christ and his life allow professing Christians to be hateful and deny others protections they would go ballistic about if they were denied them? I also noted in the paper that one town in Oregon has problems like Jenna, LA, focusing on its Latino population. Hate crimes are alive and well in Oregon and without legal protections for all Oregon citizens, some will feel obliged to express their hatred in some pretty pernicious ways. It is up to the spiritual community to encourage ethical thinking and inclusion in law and in politics.

Walk the Blessing Way
Swim the Blessing River
Soar in the Blessing Light

Morningbear MercerMx.
